Women for Women
Connecting as women in business, we partnered with Cjay, founder of TORCH, to offer her new Fem Candle with every Fem. Necklace purchase. Incorporating notes of peony, plum and cucumber, the Fem Candle is made from organic coconut wax and hand-poured in Los Angeles. Read more about Cjay and TORCH on our journal.
Tip from Cjay: “Our coconut wax is organic, sustainable and obtained via natural pressing; use the melted wax as a lotion or massage oil for your skin.”
A Note From Our Founder
Vrai & Oro was founded with a wide-eyed curiosity to question traditions in order to create positive change, and somewhere along the way of discovering hidden truths within the jewelry industry, I’ve also uncovered my own.
Growing up as an introverted female, I felt the odds of becoming a leader in business were stacked against me. The known leaders of the time were outgoing, shrewd, bold and in most cases, male— essentially the opposite of me.
It wasn’t until I questioned my own assumptions on what makes a leader that I was able to embrace these differences as my strengths, and even use them to my advantage. Why is sensitivity seen as a weakness and why are emotions frowned upon? These are powerful assets that are innate in most women, but our minds have been trained to see them as negative.
I’m very optimistic about the future of women in business as I see progress occurring every day (one small step at a time), but we won’t become a force in our work by forcing ourselves to change. We will become a force by questioning our taught beliefs, embracing who we are and working together to help change the mindsets of others. The near future may be female, but the real future is equality.
